International Women's Day
Today, young women from Year 6 went to celebrate International Women's Day at Fratton Park. The event was run by Pompey in the Community with the aim being to unite and inspire future generations of women in all areas of life.
As part of the day, the children participated in a 'Treasure your Chest' talk where they learnt about the importance of breast health and how necessary it is to wear the right bra and sports bra. This was a fascinating talk with all learning and embracing their breasts.
Following that, Hampshire Constabulary and Firefighting service shared different workshops with the children solving logical problems, reasoning, developing their communication, and celebrating their individuality.
The highlight of any school trip is always lunch, and we were treated to a catered lunch which the girls embraced, trying new things and sharing with their friends and children from other schools.
To end the day, a panel of incredible women from the world of work came to share their stories and answer any questions the children may have had. Flying Bull asked such thought-provoking questions:
"Would you describe yourself as confident and if so how did you grow to become that way?"
"What did you want to be when you were younger and how did that change as you grew up?"
"Have you ever experienced negative attitudes due to your gender in the workplace?"
The children represented Flying Bull beautifully and were inspired by those who came to share with them.
