Half Term Jubilee Events in Portsmouth!
We’re celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a range of exciting activities and promotions in Portsmouth libraries. Take a look at what is on offer!
Storytime and Craft activities for children
All craft activities are free and drop-in.
Monday 30 May
- 11am to 12 noon at Central Library: Design a Jubilee flag or plate. Prize awarded for the best design!
- 11am at North End Library: Crown making
- 2pm at Paulsgrove Library: Jubilee craft activity
- 2pm at Southsea Library: Special Jubilee story time
Tuesday 31 May
- 11am to 12 noon at Central Library: Make a Queen or soldier peg or spoon doll (for ages 6+). Prize awarded for the best design!
- 11am at Alderman Lacey Library: Special Jubilee story time and Crown making craft
- 10am at Beddow Library: Special Jubilee story time and Queen’s knickers bunting craft
- 11.30am at Southsea Library: Make your own Jubilee bunting and crown
Wednesday 1 June
- 10am to 10.30am at Central Library: Queen themed story and singalong and then crown making from 11am. Prize awarded for the best design!
- 11am at Cosham Library: Special Jubilee story time
Children’s Jubilee tea parties
Tickets £1 per person for an afternoon of drinks, cake and fun to celebrate the Jubilee! Book a place at your local library.

Displays and exhibitions
Throughout the week each library will have Jubilee themed colouring available, a corgi hunt (at Beddow Library) plus colourful Jubilee displays.
- Cosham Library: Jubilee Big Read Book promotion and a gallery of Jubilee children’s pictures
- North End Library: Interactive Jubilee jigsaw. Children pick a piece to colour in and add it to the jigsaw
- Paulsgrove Library: Display of milestones and events throughout the Queen’s reign
- Central Library Foyer: A display of the history of each decade of the Queen’s reign
- Portsmouth History Centre (second floor of Central Library): An exhibition of the Queen’s visits to Portsmouth over the decades
